friday

happy friday! i hate to keep bringing up the weather, but i can't resist sharing this bit of news: it's going to be warm (like, high sixties to mid-seventies) and sunny this weekend. i'm looking forward to spring produce (green garlic!) at the farmers market and soaking up some much-needed vitamin d.

i'm over at food52 today, with 9 links to help you celebrate the end of march

friday

happy friday! i had a slow, slightly painful start this morning (nothing a little egg and cheese can't fix). my birthday was the perfect balance of low-key and fun—yoga, sushi and drinks with friends.

i'm over at food52 today, with 9 links that will bring you the luck of the irish.

friday

happy friday! it feels like spring over here in portland. inspired by all the sunshine, i bought a bunch of blood oranges and a bottle of champage to make mimosas at today's eyes + edge team "meeting". (we're baking french macarons.)

i'm also over at food52 today, sharing 7 links to prepare you for a food apocalypse.

friday

happy friday! i'm up in the seattle area, staying in a cozy lodge with my aunt (who's here on business from florida). aside from some hiking, getting a massage and (attempting) to ski, my only plan is to curl up by the fire with wine and a stack of books.

ps—in other exciting life news, i've started an internship of sorts with one of my favorite sites, food52. i'll be sharing some weekly food-related links from around the web. here's my first post!

friday

happy friday! february in portland is kind of magical, as we usually get a sprinkling of gorgeous days throughout the month. i don't want to jinx anything, but it's looking like we may get enough sun to go for a hike this weekend!

ps — if you (unlike me) have money burning a hole in your wallet, check out my roundup of this week's shopping events.

friday

happy friday! i know my friends and family back east are experiencing frigid temperatures right now, so i won't complain about the cold portland rain. i will say that i've discovered the perfect antidote: smitten kitchen's spicy chana masala over brown rice with a giant glass of reisling. listen to the new christopher owens (of girls) album, too, for good measure!

happy friday! besides heading to the oregon coast tomorrow, i'm excited to get back in the kitchen this weekend. between being a guest in other peoples' homes over the holidays and being on my cleanse, i haven't cooked as much as i would have liked to. it's time to put all of the wonderful cookbooks i got for christmas to good use!

friday

today is my last full day at home, and unfortunately, i'll be spending a portion of it getting my first (and hopefully last) root canal. other than that, my trip home has been wonderful and relaxing. i ate well, didn't exercise, slept in, drank a lot of wine, wore pajamas all day and spent quality time with my loved ones. i love being home, but it always goes by much too fast!

friday

happy friday! after a wake up call at the crack of dawn, a cross-country flight and a hellish commute in new york city traffic, i am home for the holidays. there's a heavy blanket of grief hanging over our corner of connecticut right now—it's prompted me to be so grateful to be home, surrounded by the people i love the most. i'll be splitting my time this trip between my family and drew's family and i'm planning to completely overdose on christmas spirit. i just want to savor and stockpile every moment and happy memory here to bring back with me to portland in january.

ps - if you're in portland this weekend, check out my article on tabor bread!

friday

happy friday! just a quick note: i created a tab up at the top of my blog for music to keep track of all the songs i post every friday.

i also wanted to gush about how much i loved participating in little boxes last weekend. i got a lot of gifts that are unique to portland for family and loved ones while pumping money back into our local economy and supporting portland's creative small business owners. a win-win for sure. still keeping my fingers crossed that i luck out with one of the raffle prizes!

friday

happy friday! yesterday was a blur of food, wine and lounging on the couch watching veep (the first season is only 8 episodes long, and brilliant). i'm planning on participating in black friday today, portland style. little boxes encourages black friday shoppers to take advantage of portland's local and independent stores. i just have to make sure to stay on task and not buy anything for myself.

also, check out my article on vintage design collective, a new shop that just opened in sellwood!

happy friday! don't forget, tonight (from 6-9pm) and tomorrow (from 11am-5pm) is the mr. man event put on by eyes+edge. you can still buy tickets in advance here, or buy them at the door at the good mod. tickets are good for both days. don't miss out on the best men's only pop-up shop this town has ever seen!

friday

happy friday! one of my biggest regrets is not seeing these guys when they were in portland this past summer. they played the night after beirut, and i just didn't have enough money at the time to afford both. choosing which show to go to was like choosing a favorite child (i'm dramatic, i know). i hope they come back soon!

friday

happy friday! this week was both bitter and sweet. while drew and i were celebrating our anniversary and all the happiness that goes with that, we couldn't help but feel a little sick over what happened in our hometowns and the surrounding areas. the pictures of the flood and fire damage, as well as the stories of the death and destruction that sandy left in its wake are deeply upsetting. my heart goes out to all that were impacted by the storm, and i am eternally grateful that my family, friends and loved ones all made it through the storm unscathed, save for a few power outages.
