friday

Rope & Summit by Junip on Grooveshark

happy friday! as i type this, i'm curled up in a blanket with the sore throat from hell. drew was really sick last weekend, and though i tried my best to avoid him (hard to do in a studio, by the way), i'm finally admitting to myself that i'm coming down with something.

i've been self-medicating with pho and ice cream. though my mom, who just had a similar ailment last weekend, offered up her famous method for curing everything: wine and potato chips. she swears by it. and mothers know best, right?

dearest

i mentioned earlier that i scooped up a banner at spoken for, and here it is, hanging over our bed. i was initially drawn to the sweet floral print, but the impressive handiwork is also worth noting: owner molly pringle cuts the patterns with a laser!

i heart portland

we went to see the vaux's swifts this past weekend with ashely and brett. every evening in september, at an hour before sunset, thousands of these little black birds fly overhead before settling in to the chimney at chapman elementary school to roost. we set up on the lawn with beers, sandwiches, and chips and salsa. with free entertainment and great company, it was the perfect way to spend a friday night.

1. helpful information.
2. swifts flying in to the chimney.
3. checking out a swift up close.
4. lovebirds (they're getting married in less than 2 weeks!)

scenes from spoken for

i had a lovely time at spoken for! i brought my friend jill and we sipped on some signature cocktails while admiring the beautiful handmade goods. we were completely obsessed with the banners from dearest and each bought one (i'll share a picture soon).

avocado toast

i've got another simple "recipe" for you. this time, i toasted a slice of crusty whole wheat bread and topped it with mashed avocado, lemon juice, salt and crushed red pepper. in my opinion, keeping it simple yields the best results. however, adding a poached egg, sliced tomato, or a sprinkle of feta cheese definitely wouldn't hurt!

Sleeping Ute by Grizzly Bear on Grooveshark

happy friday! tomorrow i'll be attending spoken for, "an event that aims to put a fresh spin on the typical wedding show". before you jump to any conclusions, i'll be there c/o eyes + edge :). drew and i are not ready for marriage just yet, but i'm still looking forward to perusing the unique wares and tasting food and drink samples from independent portland vendors.

speaking of non-traditional weddings -- are you at a hipster wedding? too good.
